Art Deco sapphire and diamond pendant made in the 1920's

The elegant design of this pendant speaks volumes to the beauty of Art Deco jewellery of the 1920's to the 1940's and shows why it is one era that has never gone out of fashion or style.

This pendant was hand made in platinum in the 1920's and is such an elegant design that will no doubt always be admired every single time that it is worn.

In the centre sits a beautiful oval natural sapphire that measures 3 carats in size and looks even more surrounded by the pure white colour of the platinum and of course the brilliance of the diamonds.

Surrounding the sapphire are fourteen single cut diamonds, that lead up to a further two diamonds with a final two set on the beautiful triangular bail at the top. The diamonds come together to total 1.09 carats, with the pendant itself measuring 13.2mm across by 16.6mm or 30.1mm to the top of the bail.

With all the charm and regal elegance of a wonderful bygone era, this Art Deco pendant is truly the epitome of style and grace.

What are single cut diamonds?

These are small diamonds usually around 0.01 carats to 0.05 carats in size. They are often found on the shoulders of rings or surrounding a centre stone for example. While today modern technology will allow for a 0.01 carat diamond to have 58 facets and be a round brilliant cut diamond, single cut diamonds were used from the later part of the 19th Century up until around the 1930's-1940's. Commonly found with eight facets on the top (the crown) and eight facets on the bottom (the pavilion) these are sometimes found with total facets between 16 to 18.
