Omega Constellation Day Date 168.029 linen dial

The Omega Constellation has always been the watch that uses the highest grade and quality of movement from Omega, and here is a brilliant vintage Omega Constellation that has so many unique and sought after features.

Made in 1969  in stainless steel, the 34.5mm watch case is called the Constellation III or Constellation "C" case. This was because it was both the third design for the Omega Constellation, and its shape from end to end resembles the letter "C" by being rounded all the way to the lugs. This shape gives the watch a larger appearance on the wrist as well allowing it to sit so well on the wrist.

Then there is the dial. Firstly it has both the day as well as the date function making this feature alone quite hard to come by. Day-Date watches have become so sought after in recent years, and this give the watch such a great look, as does the dial itself. Called a "linen dial" due to the incredible textured design, all of this comes together to result in such an attractive dial that will always look so good on the wrist.

Omega Constellation Day Date 168.029

1969 Omega Constellation Day Date 168.029 with the linen dial.

What is the Omega Constellation?

The progenitor of the Constellation line is without doubt the appropriately named "Century". A limited edition self-winding chronometer wristwatch launched in 1948 to celebrate the firm's 100th anniversary. This watch, not intended for series production, was greeted with such enthusiasm that the decision was taken to create a watch with all the same qualities on an industrial scale. It started with the movements, which were all self-winding chronometers that had received the mention of "Especially good results" during testing.

The line would soon develop into a series of watches which were finished to different degrees. The Constellation available in steel or gold, the Constellation Deluxe was only available in gold with applied gold indexes on the dial and finally the Constellation Grand Luxe, which was available in gold and platinum with corresponding dial and the so-called "Brick link" bracelet. The Grand Luxe model was delivered in a solid silver presentation box.

Where can I service my Omega watch?

When we expanded and renovated our store in late 2022, we put in not only a full watchmaking and polishing workshop, but a watchmaker. He used to used to work for Tag Heuer, LVMH and then Rolex, before coming to Kalmar Antiques. We also now have full access to Omega watch parts. This allows us to be able to service your Omega watch, as well as other watches such as Longines, Breitling, Cartier and Patek Philippe to name a few.

We suggest every 5 years to a maximum of 8 years.
Omega recommends that a complete service of your watch should be done every 5 to 8 years. If the watch is worn in water, we advise that the water resistance checked every year.
