many antique lockets are marked back and front which is a plate of gold with a base metal in the centre, and finding a solid gold one is more wonderful, and when it is in 15 carat gold from the UK then it is even more exciting.
15 carat gold was used in the United Kingdom (and a few other countries such as Australia) and was used in the UK from 1854 until 1931, making it quite a short-lived carat of gold, making this locket even more exciting to own and wear.
With the romantic heart shape, both sides were hand engraved which adds to the unique look and design of this locket, and measuring 22.5mm across by 25.5mm plus the link for a chain to pass through, it is also the perfect size to wear on a chain all the time.
Able to hold two photos inside, this locket is not only so beautiful, but is also still in superb condition even after being made over a century ago, and is sure to become a much loved and treasured locket.

15 carat gold antique locket
15 carat gold antique locket made in 1911. This antique locket was hand engraved and is in wonderful condition. Many antique lockets are marked "B & F" meaning back and front. What this means is that there is a plate of gold on both sides of a base metal interior. This locket was made in solid 15 carat gold.
15 carat gold was first used in the United Kingdom from 1854 until 1931. Like all gold carats it is alloyed with other material to give it hardness and to sometimes change its colour. In 15 carat gold, it is 62.5% gold and 37.5% other alloys.
