Antique garnet brooch made in the 1860's

This antique brooch will look so stylish set on any outfit of any colour and has all the grace and elegance of the Victorian era in which it was made.

Made in 15 carat rose gold in the 1860's, the warm soft tone of the rose gold blends perfectly with the deep rich burgundy colour of the garnets, all which highlights the locket section in the centre which is set with its plaited hair.

This brooch has such a wonderful feel to it, and measuring 25mm across by 16.9mm, makes it the perfect size to wear day or night.

When was the Victorian era?

The Victorian era was from 1837 until 1901. Until Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria was the longest ruling monarch in British history. Queen Victoria was influential in not just politics, but also fashion. After Prince Albert died in 1861, Queen Victoria went into a perpetual state of mourning. During this time until her death, she wore only black, and popularised mourning jewellery.
