Art Deco diamond engagement ring set with mine cut diamonds

There is something so special about wearing an engagement ring from the Art Deco era, and this is enhanced further when it is set with genuine antique mine cut diamonds.

Also known as "cushion cut diamonds", there are three on the top that total 0.48 carats, with one more set on each side that add an extra 0.08 carats to the diamond weight.

Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold and platinum, hand making a ring allows so much more detail to be put into a ring, as well as being able to make the ring in both gold and platinum. This shows in the scroll work detail in this ring that will have you admiring it each and every time that you gaze down upon it on your finger.

Measuring 6.2mm wide at the centre by 12.4mm across, this ring will look so beautiful on its own or worn along side a wedding ring.

What is a mine cut diamond? What is a cushion cut diamond?

At the start of the 18th century, a great leap forward emerged with the “invention” of the new 58-facetted diamond. At the time, these were the closest resemblance to today’s brilliant cut diamond. These are referred to as old mine cut diamonds, or "old miners" as well as "cushion cut diamonds" . These were cut often squarish or cushion shaped, with quite a steep angle on the crown and pavilion. This was to maximise weight retention in the diamond. As well as these features, the “old miners” often had quite a large culet or collet, the horizontal base formed by the blunting of a point when the stone is cut as a brilliant.

Are antique diamonds conflict free?

Yes! Besides being hand made, antique diamond engagement rings are also set with conflict-free diamonds making them more ethical than some modern diamond engagement rings. Antique engagement rings from the Victorian era as well as the Art Deco era are more popular and sought after than ever before.
