Amazing early Australian brooch by Edward Schafer

$9,250.00

Here is a truly amazing early Australian brooch that is destined to be noticed and admired from near or far.

Made by Edward Schafer in the late Victorian era of the 1890’s, the brooch is set with a beautiful piece of quartz that sits in the middle of citrine and smoky quartz and not only has such an amazing colour, but measures an incredible 190 carats in size. This size of the stone alone will make it stand out, and then there is the incredible setting surrounding it that is typical of early Australian work of the time.

Made in 18 carat gold, the detail of the settings is just extraordinary. Showing a combination of flora and fauna, the workmanship is incredible and made even more amazing that all of this was done over 130 years ago.

Measuring 6.5cm by 5.8cm, this is a magnificent example of early Australian jewellery that is unparalleled in its beauty.
