Edwardian era rose gold night and day gate bracelet

The term “night and day” is often used for bracelets where one side has a pattern and the other plain. It was thought that the plain side was worn during the day, and the patterned side was worn during the night. As lovely as this sounds, it was more likely that the engraved side would have been worn all the time. This is because often the plain side may be stamped with a hallmark. Night and day bracelets are often found in antique curb link bracelets and antique gate bracelets. Rose gold was often used over yellow gold. Rose gold is made by the addition of copper as an allow, resulting in a very lovely warm tone of rose.
