Rare antique 15 carat Albert chain made by Larard Brothers
$11,700.00
The Albert chain or fob watch chain as they are also known as, was originally designed to hold a gents pocket watch on one end via the clip and the key to wind it or a fob seal on the other, with the tee bar sitting in the centre of a vest, however when long enough such as this one here, they are more commonly worn around a woman’s neck were they sit perfectly.
This one is not only all completely original and in excellent condition with no additions or alterations, but it was also made by one of Australia’s leading jewellers of the time, Larard Brothers in the late 1800’s.
Whereas many Albert chains were made in 9 carat gold, this one was made in the rare and hard to find 15 carat gold. All of this comes together that results in a very beautiful, elegant and rare early Australian Albert chain.
Measuring 37.5cm from end to end with a fixed tee bar in the centre, the curb links measure 6.2mm in width and have such a smooth tactile feel to them as you pull it through your fingers or place it around your neck, with each link still being nice and thick and all in superb condition.
This is a wonderful genuine full length antique Albert chain that is as elegant as it is rare to come by.
