The way the centre section is designed shows just why antique rings are always so unique and sought after.
Made in 18 carat yellow gold in 1914, the sapphire in the centre measures 0.10 carats and is set into a beautiful lozenge section with a single cut diamond on each side. These diamonds total 0.04 carats and then there is a final sapphire set on each side that total 0.18 carats. The setting is so beautiful, and this ring can easily be worn everyday by any woman of any occasion.
At the centre the ring measures 6.4mm wide by 18.3mm across from each end sapphire and feels so smooth and comfortable on the finger.
This is a wonderful example of all the charm and character that antique rings have.

Sapphire and diamond antique ring
Sapphire and diamond antique ring made in 1914. This antique sapphire and diamond ring was made in 18 carat yellow gold. It is set with three natural blue sapphires and two single cut diamonds.
What are single cut diamonds?
These are small diamonds usually around 0.01 carats to 0.05 carats and are often found on the shoulders of rings. While today modern technology will allow for a 0.01 carat diamond to have 58 facets and be a round brilliant cut diamond, single cut diamonds were used from the later part of the 19th Century up until around the 1930’s-1940’s. Commonly found with eight facets on the top (the crown) and eight facets on the bottom (the pavilion) these are sometimes found with total facets between 16 to 18.
In recent years there has been such a resurgence for genuine antique cut diamonds. This is seen especially for engagement rings as many people realise that there is such a charm and character about antique cut diamonds.
