Victorian silver locket highlighted with rose and green gold
$1,250.00
Here is such an exquisite antique photo locket that was made in the late Victorian era of the 1890’s, and is destined to always be loved and admired.
Made in sterling silver, the front of the locket has a gorgeous floral design that is highlighted in both rose and green gold. For centuries gold has been made in different colours by being alloyed with other metals. Rose gold is produced by primarily adding copper to the gold for example, and years ago green gold was made by adding silver to the gold or cadmium. This results in a lovely soft green colour, that looks so beautiful and shows how special and unique antique jewellery can be.
The use of the green gold is perfect to highlight the leaves and is sure to make this locket such a wonderful talking piece.
Then the reverse side has been so expertly hand engraved with so much detail that adds to the charm and character of this locket even further.
Measuring 36mm across by 44.5mm, or 61.8mm to the top of the bail for a chain to pass through, inside it can hold two photos that once placed inside will make this so much more personal to the wearer.
Antique jewellery is often so exciting and unique, and this locket certainly exemplifies that.
