Antique jewellery is so often steeped in history and meaning, and here is a beautiful poignant ring that exemplifies this.
Hand made in 18 carat yellow gold in the Victorian era of the 1860's, sitting beautifully in the centre is a piece of onyx which is a naturally black and white banded material, that when carved such as here, results in the white layer standing out so well against the black.
And on the onyx is a forget-me-not flower which represented an undying love and remembrance which gives this ring such a wonderful feature to it. The forget-me-not flower was so beautifully carved and is highlighted even further by being surrounded by twelve natural white pearls that border the onyx perfectly.
The top of the ring measures 12.9mm across by 14.1mm, and leads to an exquisitely hand engraved band that would have taken such a long time to engrave entirely by hand all those years ago.
This is such a beautiful ring that will no doubt be a wonderful conversation starter and always be admired.
