Mourning rings of years gone by were actually a beautiful way to remember the passing of a loved on as there was of course no computers or photography, and here is a very beautiful antique mourning ring made in the Georgian period of 1808.
Set with woven hair surrounded by black enamel, the black enamel signifies that this is a mourning ring and this is further made more personal by the hand engraved inscription under the ring. It is engraved with “Eliz h (Elizabeth) Wallman ob Feb 24th 1808 Ae (Age) 62.
The top of the ring measures 14.4mm across by 12.4mm and the ring is made in 9ct rose gold with the colour of the gold having such a wonderful warm colour to it.
A wonderful antique Georgian mourning ring that is still in incredible condition even well after 200 years later.
