The Art Deco era of the 1920's produced some very elegant and beautiful jewellery, and this Art Deco necklace is certainly no exception.
Hand made entirely in platinum, the gorgeous design is accentuated by three larger round early brilliant cut diamonds that come together to total 0.93 carats and are highlighted even further by twenty eight single cut diamonds that total 0.70 carats. The sparkle given off from all of these diamonds, combined with the elegant design are destined to make this necklace be admired from near or far.
Fitted on a 43cm necklace that allows the main section to sit perfectly on the neckline, this is a magnificent example of Art Deco jewellery at its finest.

Platinum Art Deco necklace made in the 1920's. This Art Deco necklace is set with antique single cut diamonds.
What are single cut diamonds?
These are small diamonds usually around 0.01 carats to 0.05 carats in size. They are often found on the shoulders of rings or surrounding a centre stone for example. While today modern technology will allow for a 0.01 carat diamond to have 58 facets and be a round brilliant cut diamond, single cut diamonds were used from the later part of the 19th Century up until around the 1930's-1940's. Commonly found with eight facets on the top (the crown) and eight facets on the bottom (the pavilion) these are sometimes found with total facets between 16 to 18.
When was the Art Deco period?
Although there was no exact start and finish date of the Art Deco era, it is generally accepted that it was from the 1920's through to the 1940's.
