Emerald and diamond Toi et Moi ring

There is nothing more romantic than an antique ring on your finger, and it is hard to find a ring more romantic than a toi et moi ring.

The term “Toi et Moi” is French for “You and Me” and is used for a ring with two main stones, and this is believed to have started when Napoleon gave Josephine a sapphire and diamond engagement ring in 1776. Since then, this has become a wonderfully romantic design for jewellery that displays love between two people in a gorgeous design that looks so elegant on the finger.

Hand made in platinum in the lovely Art Deco period of the 1920’s,on one side is a very vibrant Colombian emerald that measures 0.26 carats, and has such a fine, intense green that stands out so well against the pure white of the platinum and is highlighted by the sparkle of the diamonds.

With a 0.38 carat early brilliant cut diamond sitting opposite, on each side are five single cut diamonds that graduate elegantly in size that come together to total 0.12 carats. Even the way these diamonds graduate subtly in size shows just how much thought went into this ring, and these diamonds are highlighted further by being millgrain set which can be seen as the beautiful crimping along the edge of the ring which was a poplar technique seen in Art Deco jewellery of the time.
